WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SANCTIFICATION OF PRIESTS: JUNE 7, 2024
All pastors, secretaries, catechetical leaders, principals

Bulletin Announcement
World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests takes place every year on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This day is celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2024. On this special feast, let us pray for your parish priest and for all the priests of the Diocese of Ogdensburg. May our prayer be for their continual growth in holiness, their sanctification that configures them to the Person of Jesus Christ. Every day our priests pray for us and for our intentions as they preside over Mass, hear confessions, baptize, or bury our loved ones. Our priests need our prayers. Take time to tell them that you are praying for them and thank them for their dedication, especially our retired priests who continue to minister in parishes and other forms of ministry. With the love of the Sacred Heart, our priests have the same love for their parishioners.
Mass Announcement
Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and World Priest Day, which is a day set aside to pray for priests, so we encourage each of you to pray in a special way today for Father______________ that he is strengthened and renewed each day as he serves as a priest of Jesus Christ.
Prayers of the Faithful
For Father_______, our (pastor, associate pastor) in his ministry to the People of (parish name), that the Holy Spirit will come down upon him and light his heart anew for the priesthood, we pray to the Lord.
That we may never take the presence of our priests for granted, as we cherish the celebration of the Mass and are nourished by the Eucharist, we pray to the Lord.

SAVE THE DATE: NEXT FRIENDSHIP GROUP MEETING!: "Finding Peace in the Storm"

Our next Friendship Group meeting will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time via Zoom. We will be blessed to have Fr. Bill Neubecker, OMV talk with us about the first half of "Finding Peace in the Storm," by Dan Burke and answer your questions.

Sometimes discernment seems complicated, and we struggle to “be still” to listen to God’s voice. Following the death of his spiritual director, St. Alphonsus Liguori penned timeless advice in a letter to one of his spiritual daughters, and it became the famous work titled "Uniformity with God’s Will." Now Dan Burke breaks open St. Alphonsus’s eighteenth-century classic for you. He intersperses relevant explanations and insights within the text of this great saint and includes reflection questions for each chapter.

St. Alphonsus explains, “We should most confidently abandon ourselves to all the dispositions of divine providence, since they are for our own good.” In page after page, Burke shows you how the “wind and waves” can help you ascend to union with God. You will discover:

*The “paralyzing cocktail” we drink when we reject God’s will
*Three prayers that will assist you in directing all things to God’s will
*Two ways we can know God’s love and hear His voice
*How humiliation, adversity, and trials can bring freedom, healing, and salvation

A “What Next?” section helps you take practical steps in doing God’s will. Burke also provides a simple action plan to implement these fruitful practices in your life.

Liguori intersperses fascinating real-life examples from the saints to assist you in remaining steadfast amid afflictions. He explains three temptations that confront us and how to resist them, along with four practices of uniformity to God’s will and a surefire way to unite your sufferings to Christ’s sufferings.

You will acquire tips on what to do during periods of aridity or desolation. Above all, you will discover how to enjoy peace of heart in all circumstances and foster loving conversation with God. By learning how to entrust yourself fully to God’s holy will, you will experience His divine embrace and the fulfillment of your deepest desires.

To order the book, please visit sophiainstitute.com and enter Friendship25 at the checkout to receive a 25% off discount.

If you haven't signed up for the Friendship Groups, visit: https://mailchi.mp/sophiainstitute/friendship-groups

Once you have signed up, you will receive updates, including the Zoom link and discussion questions, about a week prior to the meeting.

PLANNED GIVING:

MEMORARE LEGACY SOCIETY

Have you already or have been thinking about leaving a legacy by designating a portion of your assets to pass at death to the Diocese of Ogdensburg, your parish or school or diocesan program or organization?  The Memorare Legacy Society honors and recognizes the generosity and vision of those who have chosen to leave a legacy to the Diocese of Ogdensburg through estate or deferred gifts.  Members of this society are those who have informed the Diocese of a planned gift that, in the future, will benefit the Diocese of Ogdensburg or any of its parishes or programs.  This ensures a continuous commitment of care to their Church, to the Church’s vision and to the charitable works that flow from her missions through their thoughtful planned gift. For more information on the Memorare Legacy Society, contact: Scott Lalone, Executive Director, Development Office 393-2920, slalone@rcdony.org.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER:

Did You Know…one main reason teens fail to report inappropriate social media contacts to their parents is because they fear that their parents will punish them by taking away their phones. Let your child know that you will not punish them if they report suspicious or inappropriate behavior. Encourage your child to come you if there is a problem. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the June 9 Bulletin

Try to eliminate as much disposable plastic from your life as possible; it breaks down into tiny particles that enter streams, lakes and oceans, harming harm fish and other wildlife. Instead, keep a reusable water bottle; wash and reuse plastic sandwich and snack bags, or try replacing them with waxed paper or waxed-paper bags, which can be composted.

FIRST SATURDAYS DEVOTIONS: Every First Saturday, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. (next first Saturday, June 1)

(Please feel free to join us earlier, beginning at 8:30 a.m. for private prayers and recollection)
Our Lady of the Adirondack House of Prayer
7270 Star Road
Ellenburg Center
Call Sarah at 518-534-9976 for directions or more information.

What is First Saturday Devotion? First Saturday Devotions require a commitment to do the same requirements each time over five consecutive months as requested by our Blessed Mother at Fatima. The requirements for each of the First Saturdays selected are... To receive Holy Communion in a state of grace; To receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) preferably on that Saturday, but at least within eight days prior or eight days following the First Saturday indicating that it is being done as part of First Saturday Devotions for Reparation; To recite five decades of the Holy Rosary and meditate beyond the recitation for 15 minutes on one or all of the mysteries.

Why commit to this particular devotion? It is undertaken because the children who met with Mary at Fatima were instructed many times that this was important. It can be difficult, because it involves a sacrifice of time and possibly current priorities or even certain religious beliefs.

Why is this important? Mary indicated that she herself has been and is wounded and hurt by the indifference, insults, even blasphemy hurled at her, sometimes by those who believe they love her Son. She asks that those who wish to make this sacrifice do so with the specific stated intention of "making reparation for the sins committed against my Immaculate Heart."

Where can we join others to worship and make this reparation? Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer is, to the best of our knowledge, the only site in the North Country area which currently offers First Saturday Devotions with Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament. We invite you to join us on any First Saturday for this act of reparation in the warmth and love of this very special place of prayer and worship…and then return for the additional months! Mary promises that it makes a world of difference in our lives and in our world.
