RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS

Our aging religious need your help. Thousands of senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests in the U.S. spent years working in Catholic schools, religious education, colleges, hospitals and social services agencies – often for little compensation. Their sacrifices leave their religious communities without adequate savings for retirement and eldercare. Many of these religious worked in our own Diocese. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide nursing care and more to our retired religious sisters and brothers. A second collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious will be taken up on the weekend of December 10th and 11th. Please give to those who have given a lifetime

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the December 17/18 Bulletin)

How “green “will your Christmas be? How can our celebration of Christmas this year reflect Christian simplicity, social justice and care for our common home? The three R’s (reduce, reuse, and recycle) could prove helpful in finding ways to respond to the challenge. Using this as a guide could make a merrier Christmas for everyone on the planet. While there is still time, have this conversation with a friend.

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the December 24/25 Bulletin)

What gift do you want for your children this Christmas? When we contemplate the beauties of this earth from which Jesus took on flesh, we need to ask ourselves an important question. What will the world that we leave behind be like for our children’s children? How can our love for God, our families, and our neighbors near and far be reflected in the ways that we treat the earth where God “pitched his tent “to be one with us?

EMPTY MANGER CAROLING: Christmas Caroling

Every year the Pro-Lifers in Plattsburgh, NY bring the joy and hope of Christmas to the darkness of the abortuary with our “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling day. During an “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling Day, pro- lifers gather Around an empty manger to sing Christmas Carols at abortion facilities. The purpose of the event is to bring the joy and hope of Christmas to these places of misery and despair. Children have been saved from abortion when their mothers heard the carols and reconsidered their choice for abortion in light of the Christmas story. The empty manger is a dual symbol. Like the empty manger lovingly placed in every Christmas crèche in anticipation of celebrating the Nativity of Jesus Christ, it represents the joy that ought to accompany the birth of every child.

This year there will be 2 opportunities to raise your voices in joyful song at our Empty Manger Caroling in front of Planned Parenthood of the North Country, 66 Brinkerhoff Street, Plattsburgh.
So mark your calender for Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 17th both beginning at 10am- 2pm Come anytime and stay as long as you wish. Children welcome too!
