ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the May 6/7 Bulletin)

What about Trees? Arbor Day was celebrated on April 23, 2017; a time we think more about trees and how they are beneficial to our world. Trees are a huge part of nature's way of removing pollution from the atmosphere which improves our air quality and human health. This is just one of many facts that are important to us all. Contact your local arborist or the Arbor Day Foundation (www.arborday.org/trees/treefacts/) for more information. Plant a tree.

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the May 13/14 Bulletin)

Easter Season: A time of new life and rebirth. We find ourselves wanting to clean out, whether it is in our closet, basement or garage. Remember that those things that are clutter for us can be a new beginning for someone less fortunate. Donate to a local organization, have a garage sale or recycle at a transfer station. Reuse. Recycle. Reduce.

PLANNED GIVING: Buy a New Life Insurance Policy

Some people find they can make a much larger gift than they could otherwise afford by taking out a life insurance policy and name our parish, Catholic school, the Diocese, a Mission Project of the Diocese or a Ministry/Program of the Diocese as beneficiary.  If you name any of the above as owner and beneficiary, the premiums you pay will be deductible on your income tax.  It’s a way to make a large gift on the “installment plan.”

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE: Looking for Catholic families ENDDATE: APRIL 12

The International Student Exchange finds local families to host about 3,000 exchange students each year. Students are 15 to 18 years old. They spend five to twelve months in the US. Families should encourage and enable students to practice their own faith. This year’s challenge is finding practicing Catholic families for practicing Catholic students! Would you consider accepting a student as your own child, give them a place to study and sleep, and 3 meals a day? They should have chores your children have, participate in family activities, attend school and church functions, make friends and experience your family’s love and life. Students come with their own spending money and insurance and speak English. For further information, please contact Tarasa Lewis at (315)262-6308 or tarasa4ise@gmail.com.
