Diocese of Ogdensburg

The Roman Catholic Church in Northern New York

The church recognizes several different forms of consecrated life and ways of living the evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity, obedience). Consecrated life is a vocation just as marriage and diocesan priesthood are. In responding to their baptismal call, these men and women consecrate their lives to God as a way of seeking holiness. They live the truth that only Christ can satisfy the deepest longings in a person’s heart and witness that this union provides a deeper joy than the world can give.
