The Diocese of Ogdensburg Catholic Committee on Scouting (DOCCS) has been awarded the "Quality Diocesan Committee Award" by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting for 2012. The DOCCS has been award the Quality Diocesan Committee Award each year since 2007.

The Region 2 Chairman Ed Winterkorn informed Sister Mary Rita Kempney, SSJ, Diocesan Director of Catholic Scouting, of this high honor.

This award was earned because of the committee's continued working relationship with the scout units of the diocese and the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.

The DCCS promotes and presents the Boy and Girl Scout Religious Emblems, and trains new Emblems Counselors.

The members also organize a Catholic Scout Retreat and Mass each year for the Scouts of the diocese.

The committee works closely with the youth ministry, evangelization, and vocation programs of the diocese.  When Fr. Tom Higman was a seminarian at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, in Wynnwood, PA, he was a member of the Diocesan Committee. Father Tom is an Eagle Scout and earned the Pope Pius XII award.

The Committee has a good working relationship with the Knights of Columbus and some of the DCCS members are Knights of Columbus members.
