The purpose of the Diocesan Family Mission is to enable those who attended the 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to share with others the timeless truths of marriage and family life and to facilitate a prayerful center in each deanery for their sanctification.
It is our hope to provide for each deanery and the parishes and families contained therein a day of prayer and catechesis on the institution of marriage and family life. In order to accomplish this we will host Eucharistic Adoration in each deanery at the designated parish, visit classrooms at the parish school, host a family meal either at lunch or dinner, and provide a Holy Hour that evening where a team member will make a presentation on a topic from the World Meeting of Families. The event will end with a coffee house style gathering to follow where books, cds and other free materials supporting families will be available.
The Family Missions sites and dates include:
January 8, St. Mary’s in Canton
May 6, St. Bernard’s in Saranac Lake
June 3, Holy Family in Malone
July 8, St. Bartholomew’s in Old Forge
August 5, St. Peter’s in Lowville
Fall (TBD) St. John’s in Plattsburgh
