The Mission of the Department of Faith Formation
The Department of Faith Formation seeks to enable people to more fully respond to Jesus' offer, "I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) Since Jesus' offer is lifelong and every state of life brings its unique insights and questions, experience and wonder, we actively promote and enable catechetical endeavors that attempt to engender a living, conscious, and explicit faith in people of all ages. While affirming our ongoing commitment to children and youth, our particular focus is the adult believer.
Inspired by this fundamental vision, the department’s ministry on behalf of the bishop and the diocesan church seeks to share the life and light of Christ by:
Promoting solid catechetical foundations and effective programs in the areas of catechetics, liturgy, scripture, theology, youth ministry, evangelization, and ministry formation;
Collaborating with other diocesan departments and parish staff members in pastoral activity aimed at developing strong faith communities;
Nurturing the continual spiritual and personal formation of people of all ages;
Gathering with one another as diocesan, regional, and parish communities to challenge our vision as church, foster our unity, strengthen our ministry, grow in faith, inspire and form our young, initiate new members into the body, deepen our spiritual life and increase our understanding and commitment to the church and to its magisterium.
Rooted in the richness of the past, addressing the challenges of the present, we are Journeying Toward a Future Full of Promise.
